Step 1

Start Testing

Open the test page and click any mouse button inside the click area 20–30 times. The tool supports left, right, middle, back, and forward buttons. You can adjust the detection threshold using the slider at the bottom — the default 80 ms works for most users.

Step 2

Read Your Results

Each row in the click log shows the button pressed, the time gap since the previous click, and a status badge. Green (Normal) means the interval is within human range (100–500 ms). Red (Issue) means the gap fell below your threshold — a strong sign of worn-out micro switches. You can export the full click log as a CSV file from the top-right corner.

This double click test works by measuring the time interval between consecutive mouse button presses. When you click, the browser records the precise timestamp using performance.now(). A normal human click takes 100-500ms between presses. If the test detects intervals below 80ms (customizable threshold), it indicates potential hardware malfunction - specifically worn-out micro switches inside your mouse. For reliable results, we recommend testing at least 20-30 clicks.

Double Click Test FAQ

Quick answers for common scenarios. Keep scrolling only if you need the details.

What is a double click test?

A double click test is an online tool that detects if your mouse registers unintended double clicks when you only press once. It measures the time interval between clicks to identify hardware malfunctions.

How do I know if my mouse is double clicking?

Use this tool to test 20+ clicks. If you see red-flagged entries with intervals below 80ms that you didn't intend, your mouse has a double-clicking issue.

What is a normal click interval?

Normal human clicking intervals range from 100-500ms. Intervals below 50ms are nearly impossible for humans and indicate hardware problems.

Can double clicking be fixed without replacing the mouse?

Yes, you can try adjusting system settings, cleaning the switches, or using software fix tools before considering replacement.

Does this test work on Mac / Chrome / Firefox?

Yes, this is a pure browser-based tool compatible with all major operating systems and browsers.

Is this double click test free?

Completely free, no registration required, no installation needed.

How accurate is an online double click test?

Uses browser native event.timeStamp with sub-millisecond precision, providing extremely accurate measurements.

What threshold should I use for double click detection?

We recommend 80ms as default. Intervals below this threshold almost certainly indicate hardware failure.
